Jérémie Thircuir is an independent curator and consultant, as well as a Sorbonne University graduate who has been deeply involved in the Chinese contemporary art scene.
His curatorial approach is unique, combining rigorous academic content with a sense of playfulness and accessibility, aimed at engaging a broad audience. Thircuir emphasizes a pragmatic and experiential approach to art, focusing on tangible, material experiences.
His main research interests include the contemporary interpretation of traditional art forms and the cultural and ecological dimensions of food and agriculture. This diverse range of interests is reflected in his curatorial projects, which span from contemporary ceramics to the art of fermentation.
Some notable exhibitions curated by Thircuir include “The Farm” for the K11 Art Foundation, which explores the intersection of agriculture and contemporary art; “As Time Goes By” in the Surging Wave Pavilion, the first contemporary art exhibition held in a UNESCO World Heritage-recognized Suzhou Garden; and “Another Landscape” for the Yang Art Museum, which provides a comprehensive survey of contemporary landscape photography in China.
In addition to his curatorial work, Thircuir is also a publisher, having produced books featuring leading contemporary artists such as Nobuyoshi Araki, Liu Xiaodong, and Xu Bing under his own imprint.
He extends his expertise to academia as a lecturer at Shanghai Normal University and contributes to the Louis Vuitton City Guide for Shanghai and Beijing.
